6 secret service agents suspended by behavior during Trump's murder attempt

Six agents were suspended by the United States Secret Service for failures related to the murder attempt of the then presidential candidate Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, an official to ABC News.

Personnel movements were confirmed four days before the anniversary of the Single Incident of July 13, 2024 that left Trump’s earning ear.

Corey Equivore, a firefighter who attended the demonstration of the Trump campaign that day, died in the attack.

The counters in Trump’s secret service that were on the site killed the shooter, identified by the FBI as Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20.

Following the shooting, an independent review of the National Security Department showed that a series of police breakdown had created an environment that left Trump vulnerable to a possible murderer.

“The secret service does not work at the elite levels necessary to meet its critical mission,” the report found. “The Secret Service has become bureaucratic, complacent and static despite the risks have multiplied and technology has evolved.”

The director of the Secret Service at that time, Kimberly Cheflet, resigned 10 days after the shooting.

The discipline against the six agents was issued in recent months, and the agents received the right to appeal. The suspensions ranged between 10 and 42 days, according to the official, who was informed about the agency’s actions.

The positions of the suspended ones went from the level of supervision to the level of line agent, said a source familiar with the decision of the agency to ABC News.

Just nine weeks after the shooting in Butler, Trump had a second attempted apparent murder in his life while playing golf in his course in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Following both incidents, the then defender received security at the presidential level when his campaign dealt with new security protocols in planning his events.
