Sudden flood threat to northeastern parts, including New York City

More than 50 million Americans throughout the northeast are under flood watches on Monday, with a significant risk of sudden floods in some areas.

Sudden flood warnings for cities such as New York City, Newark, New Jersey and Arlington, Virginia, including Reagan National Airport, until Monday night.

The potentially mortal floods were possible in Western Union County, New Jersey, warned the National Meteorological Service.

Washington, DC, Baltimore and Philadelphia are also under flood watches on Monday night.

Slow movement storms are expected to fall a lot of rain quickly. Rain rates of up to 3 to 4 inches per hour are possible.

Floods in parts of the southern Pennsylvania were reported, including Lancaster County, after heavy rains moved through the area the earliest Monday.
