The Corporation for Public Radiodice announced Friday that it will begin a “manure of its operations” and will reduce most of its jobs at the end of September after the Congress vote earlier this month to reduce $ 1.1 billion in its federal funds.
CPB said he told his employees on Friday that most staff positions will be reduced before September 30, and only a small remaining transition team until January 2026 to guarantee “a responsible and orderly closure of operations.”
“Despite the extraordinary efforts of millions of Americans who called, wrote and asked the Congress to preserve federal funds for CPB, we now face the difficult reality of closing our operations,” said the president and executive director of the CPB, Patricia Harrison, in a press release. “CPB remains committed to fulfilling its fiduciary responsibilities and supporting our partners through this transition with transparency and care.”

The closure of CPB occurs after the Republicans approved a package earlier this month, which included focusing two -year funds on funds, $ 1.1 billion, for the CBP. The measure was part of President Donald Trump’s request to recover $ 9 billion from the federal budget.
CPB provides subsidies to local radio and television stations throughout the country, as well as producers of known PBS and NPR programs.
CPB said it will work to provide periodic updates to the stations and employees as the operations end.
Trump repeatedly asked Congress to obtain funds for CPB. As Congress considered the package, Trump threatened to retain his support for any Republican who voted against.
“It is very important that all Republicans adhere to my recoveries [sic] Bill and, in particular, disbursing the Corporation for Public Transmission (PBS and NPR), which is worse than CNN & Msdnc gathered. Any Republican who votes to allow this monstrosity to continue transmitting will not have my support or support. Thanks for your attention to this matter! “Trump wrote on his social media channel on July 10.
